Default new rescue in south florida

just wanted to say hi to everyone from south florida.
first the reason why i'm here, Caoimhe (pronounced kee-va, it's irish gaelic)

my girlfriend (caoimhesmom) just signed up here too.

we brought her home from the shelter last wedsnesday and on saturday we spent 5 1/2 hrs at the vet. she has bacterial pneumonia she's a snotty mess right now lol but she's improving more and more everyday. she's still not eating quite right, but getting there. poor girl has 2 broken teeth, (one being an upper canine), just got spayed and now pneumonia. she's scheduled for surgery for her teeth in august.

i've never had a more well behaved, attentive dog. she knew her name in 2 hrs. she took right to her crate. she sits, comes, is outstanding on leash. i cannot wait until she recoops fully to really start training her. we have 2 cats and a bunny in the house. she reacts well to them all, we started socializing them all a little bit, but are going to hold off on some closer contact until she's feeling better.

we're not sure of her age. our vet said all he can say is she's over a year old. her shelter card, when we first saw her said 2 years, when we picked her up it said 4 years 3 months and had a birthday. i think there's something the shelter didn't tell us, but oh well.

just looking over some of the threads here, we've already learned some things. so thanks and we look forward to hanging out around these parts

here's some more pics...

right out of the shelter

in the car from the shelter, her ears got chewed up by ear mites

HOME!!!

Thank you for saving her! She looks like she landed in a loving home. I hope she recovers from the gunk asap.
She has a wonderful smile!

Sorry to hear about the pneumonia! We almost lost our Nizhoni to pneumonia a couple of years ago. THE UF Vet. School Clinic had her in their ICU for 5 days. Sounds like your girl got diagnosed and started treatment in time - excellent! She's a lucky girl to have you and your loving crew. And LOVE the name
