What a gorgeous girl you have. Once you get the diarrhea taken care of can fixed, I would try to keep her in the house, let her know she is part of the pack now. You should know after the running stool stops, if she knows to hold it inside or not, and keeping her crated when she is alone, will help her with that. Also, even though she is used to being outside, letting her sleep near you guys ( int he house or in her crate in the bedroom) will help her feel more bonded to you.
When you take her outside for a walk, try to avoid coddling her. She is looking to you for how to act and if she is frightened and you start telling her it's ok, coddling, she will think that a. being afraid outside and when I am uncomfortable is a good thing, and b. that you don't seem too sure of the situation yourself, which makes her feel even less secure. Since she is a sensitive dog, (regards to thinking you will hit her) I would try to hand feed her her meals, let her see everything good comes from you. Also avoid standing and staring straight at her. If you both take turns and practice with each other, you can see which body postions and actions are more threatening. And I think having the dobes on the walk is a great idea. Nice well behaved dogs are great for adjusting dogs because she will feed off their energy and a lot of dogs that are strays have learned to trust dogs more than humans, so if another confident dog feels good about a situation, it help give confidence to the other dog.

So how is she feeling today? We had our pups sleep in a crate near the bed for a few weeks- Uschi decided she didn't like sleeping in the house either and preferred the garage. She's a very outdoorsy girl. But I agree, giving her more structure close to you, maybe even having her literally tied to you for part of the day no matter what you're doing might bring a closer, calmer relationship. Good luck, sounds like you're heading in the right direction

Good luck with your new dog. I am so happy she has a loving family - she acts as if she has had a bit of a rough start to life. We have a rescue dog (not our GS) that absolutely cringes when any male voice shouts - even if not aimed at him. Keep loving on her and she will feel more secure. Also, try not to vary her diet too much. Pick some quality food and stick with it as the change in diet can also cause diarrhea.
