Hello All,
Ozzy and I had a GREAT herding instinct test on Saturday (see our brag!) and I was wondering what WEARING meant? I can't seem to find this online. Ozzy was marked as showing "some wearing." His other comments: driving/some gathering runs moderately wide medium eye a little wearing works silently readily adjusts sustained interest sufficient for stock responsive to guidance/control keeps stock grouped/regroups adjusts position I'll be taking him to Cheswood Kennels in Chesapeake for lessons but see that they are moving to Kentucky! I see a few people on the board go there, do you know of an alternate location if/when the Kentucky move happens (Other than Northern VA)? |

This website might help: http://www.geocities.com/heartland/r...93/phase2.html
GSDs work sheep differently than BCs and such. They were designed to be living 'fences'. A shepherd would take his flock out onto say a 20 acre field and want the sheep to remain together and graze certain areas. The dog's job was to hold the sheep in an area without interferring with their grazing. Most Bcs and such are gathers - they move the sheep from one spot to another and then wait to move them again.
