Default I just stood back and watched

Today for the first time, Stosh was free to work sheep that were also loose. Until today the trainer had a small pen with sheep in it, Stosh was free on the outside of the pen. We've been working on moving different directions, commands, training me on how to move Stosh, etc., without him having free access to the sheep. So this morning the trainer kept the small pen of sheep in the center of the arena, then let out 3 sheep, plus one of her border collies to help- the sheep in the little pen were the draw for the loose ones and for Stosh. I was so worried that he was just going to kill one and eat it but he was fantastic! He was very active as you can imagine and the loose sheep scattered but Stosh went out after the farthest one and brought it in along with the others. I was so amazed I just stood there and watched! So did the trainer and my husband that I brought along for backup if things went bad. Stosh worked so easily and had such a soft but confident touch, he used his chest sometimes to push a sheep along, sometimes did his signature bounce move to get one going the direction he wanted. It was so cool to see him do what he knew how to do. I'll never forget the look on his face and the way he moved. I just love these dogs!

It was so fun! We were in a very very large fenced in area so there was a lot of room to see what would happen and my favorite moment was when I looked at the trainer with my mouth open and eyes wide and she had the same look- no one said a word, we just watched. And Stosh was so natural, confident but easy. Just a joy to see.

Very impressive! It's so cool to see any dog instincts kick in & do what they were bred to do. Good job, Stosh!
