Default Trainers around Lower Bucks, Pa area

I live in Lower Bucks, Pa about 40 minutes from Center City Philadelphia and would love to begin herding

Anyone know of any trainers out my way?

Try:
Stockdog trainers List
AHBA
Herding dogs, clubs, breeds list, stockdogs - Herding on the Web

Here are a list of AHBA events...you might be able to email someone off this list as well:
AHBA

If no one is close to you on those lists, I would email someone who is relatively close as they may know someone closer to you.

Thanks!
I have emailed Chris from Fly Away Aussies. They are about 1.5 hours from me and didn't know anyone closer. I may attend their intro seminar to get an idea on how Timber will do.
How did you start out? Any tips?

We have chickens and Timber's reaction to them is what got me into looking further into herding. He runs the perimeter of their coop and "herds" them into one spot then waits. When one strays he gets it back again. And first I was worried because he was so focused I thought if he ever got one it would be a disaster. But a couple weeks ago I had an escapee and didn't realize it until it was in Timber's mouth. He just carried her towards the coop, but I yelled out of instinct and he released her.
My hen was not hurt in the least!

That is cool...I am afraid mine wouldn't be so kind to the chickens!

We started when we went to a large dog event in San Diego called Wags for Wishes (several years ago). They had instinct testing (which we didn't do at the time), and when we walked by my dogs were VERY interested. They are usually so mellow and to see them so excited/interested was amazing. So, we eventually took them out to get instinct tested and got into it from there.

I think the first thing is to have him instinct tested and then go from there. It is a lot of fun and great exercise/training for the dogs!

There is a place in Birdsboro, PA that does lessons. She is excellent. They also have herding trails there as well as nationals. If you want more info let me know.

Would Knowlton NJ be within driving range for you? There is a trainer there who does HGH-style herding, I can send you the info if you're interested. If you can make the drive, it's worth it!!!
