Thank you for allowing me in this forum. Our family has a 3 1/2 yr old male gsd (Jack).
Jack has been healthy since we brought him home at weaning age. Yesterday morning he had a major seizure, and anther mid afternoon. We took him to the vet for blood work, etc. Organs functioning normally. He said watch him for a few days and gave us emergency meds if one lasted several minutes.
He had 7 more seizures overnight. Vet gave us phenobarbital this morning and we got him to take the first dose. He has had 22 more seizures throughout the day, some major with kicking, blindness, drooling, snapping, etc. He is very tired and disoriented, and does not appear to be able to see. I cannot get him to sniff or taste anything. I have tried bread, cheese, and a piece of hot dog just to see if I can get another dose of medication in him. We are struggling watching him suffer so.
I would appreciate any advice. I will call the vet again as soon as they are available.
Thank you all!
