Hey guys! We have a 4 year old GSD, who has been "leaking" urine occasionally, mostly when she is relaxing or sleeping. We had her on antibiotics for uti, went on proin for urinary incontience (& had a reaction to it), went to a homeopathic vet for alternate options, started chiropratics and he gave us a all natural med for the U.I. She stopped leaking and having accidents for 3 weeks and now she just leaked again. If it was true incontinece wouldn't it happen all the time? Anyone else have a simliar issue? We are running out of options and ideas! any help would be great!
Is she spayed, if so what age was she spayed at? The is exactly the type of incontinence my childhood dog, (female lab spayed before her first heat), developed. When she was awake she could control it, but not when she was asleep. If it's the same thing, it's not her fault and you are likely wasting your money. Get some old blankets to line where she sleeps and rotate them when soiled.
Onyx has bouts of incontinence....it does come and go. I haven't been able to pinpoint anything that triggers it. She was on Predinsone once and that was the first time she had it. I know that is a possible side effect of Pred.
She was spayed at 6 months of age. The vet that did the spay is one I would never recommend. After her spay she hated going to the vet, was extremely reactive to women(vets and techs were all women). She fights anesthesia so I wonder if she wasn't totally out during the procedure or possibly woke during it. Before she was spayed she was fine with vetting and with women.
I supplemented with corn silk capsules for a time when she first had signs of incontinence. But now I just deal with it and don't give her anything for it. She is raw fed and on supplements for her arthritis, age(10.5 yrs) but no herbs for the incontinence.
