Trying to get my dog to stop licking her inner thighs. Near her female parts... I am looking for recommendations on a soft cone of shame she can wear till I get that area to clear up.
When we had max neutered we switched the plastic come to the comfy cone. The comfy cone did not bother him I was really happy with it. You do have to make sure it's the right size and it has to have a very snug fit -if you put on to loose it can be taken off.
Just had my girl spayed. She is 9 months old. Vet sent her home with a plastic cone. It lasted about 24 hrs before it cracked and splintered.
Bought an inflatable "bite proof" cone. Inflated it and attached it to her collar. Within 18 hours she'd bit through velcro strap that supposedly kept u-shaped collar closed, pulled inflatable cone and collar over her head, eaten the little plug attached to the inflate hole and punctured puncture proof cone. I duct taped the punctures, duct taped the collar to replace chewed through strap and duct taped the whole thing to her collar, which I tightened. Inflated cone lasted another day before it deflated and turned into a mass of chewed through duct tape.
Maybe someone makes a titanium cone that's attached by metal cables to a kevlar vest and then clamped to the dog's head.
I have an inflatable ring collar but I find that it doesn't stop my dogs from reaching their back end. Some folks have used a child's "onesy" not sure how that fits on a dog.
I looked at those soft cones with ears like the lion mane and I also saw a frog, but they are for small dogs. They don't seem to make them for our big doggies. Thanks for the links I will check them out.
That similar to the cone I used, although I think it's a little sturdier. However, your dog looks older, calmer and better behaved. My little monster is still a tornado of destruction.
She is older and calm but it didn't stop her from licking the area. Didn't even slow her down. *sigh* will have to try some of the other suggestions on here.
