Clay update...

Sorry for the late update but thing have no been going well....

So clay was in and out of our regular vets up until Friday just gone when they decided he would need to be transferred to a specialist vet as his temp was not improving nor was his white blood cells returning to normal so he was transferred and admitted on Friday to the specialist they were also stumped as to what was going on with him they did lots of tests and also had a surgeon look inside of his throat for various reasons the did find nerve damage and heavy bruising but nothing that would require surgery all the other tests were clear....

so they said because antibiotics has no effect it could be an auto Immune disorder but he would need to be on iv antibiotics over the weekend just to make sure it's definitely not an infection before try to suppress his immune system they also scanned his heart to check for infection they found no infection but did find he has a heart abnormality but it's nothing to worry about right now...

So he started his steroids yesterday afternoon his temp has gone down but they said that's to be expected on steroids but he hasn't got any worse so not much to go on right now the vet says to keep everything crossed and they will contact us in the morning for more news.. they said he eating and drinking but is still not as he should be I'm just hoping and praying this works.

So more waiting...I'm a total mess I can't stop crying I love my boy so much I just want him home we haven't seen him in 4 days I'm normally with him 24/7 I'm so lost without him.

On a side note if you haven't got insurance get some you may think you can't afford it...but would you be able to find 3000-4000 in a few days because that's what I've just had to do and it's not even enough to pay the specialist vet bills I've even had to set up a go fund me account (I've only collected £60) I've had to borrow from family and friends get a loan and an overdraft and he still may need more treatment that I don't know how I'm going to afford...

I'm so sorry for what you are going through, but I'm so happy to hear that there has been some improvement! I hope that he continues to improve and can be back home with you very soon.

About the financial issue, if the attack by the other dog caused this, I think you should really look into finding that other owner and trying to hold him responsible for paying these vet bills if possible. I don't know anything about the law where you are, but from what you posted it sounds like he was not following the law allowing his dog to run loose and your dog is suffering for it.

Again, sweet Clay is in my prayers, I hope he gets better soon!

I'm so glad Clay is doing better. I hope they can find what the problem is soon and that he is back on his feet and home with you quickly.

And yeah thanks for reiterating the "Insurance advise!" I so hope he gets better soon ... you did your part and he does not deserve this!!! We already had one sudden expected loss and most certainly we do not want to see another and especially not under these circumstances! We are all pulling for you and thanks for the update. Take Care.

I've been praying for you and Clay. I understand it hurts so much to see your buddy in pain and feeling miserable. I'll add a prayer for your finances as well.

I looked into insurance for my dogs but the premiums were crazy expensive. I figured it would be better to put that money into a savings account with interest. Not everyone can do that. I hope the vets offer a way that is workable for both your budgets.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Chip, because you asked a "Mod" to explain the rules. I'm not sure if I can explain them any better than the way they are written IN the rules:

Direct copy and paste from the board rules. Please read them.
