Post analysis discussion "Mace was not an option for them" where they are. They engaged a "Dog Aggressive Akita" to protect there dog and both "apparently got injured n the process.

There dog, knew there owners was right there with them! No injuries to either party would have been ideal! And yes maybe possibly perhaps "Mace" could have prevented any injuries to either party but that was not an option for them.

The "OP" did what they could, they were there for their dog ... you can't do better than that. I'll not cast "aspersions" at there actions.

I've never had to throw down with a "Dog Aggressive" Akita??? And as I am want to say ... those that have ... raise your hands???

I do not blame the owners of the attacked dog, who now is likely dead. They did what they could. Speaking for myself, I always carry mace. But things happen. Dog killing canines can come out of nowhere. Myself, I would have had that dog by the throat and choked him unconscious. Or die trying.

Let's hope this isn't the case. I hold the vet accountable. They knew the dog was attacked and about where. I don't care if they had to shave the whole neck or area of Attack to make sure there wasn't a puncture wound.

We have had a couple here for various reasons and not once did they go undetected. A vet would know how dangerous this could be.
