Fighting Distemper - A success story about Tyson.

Some of you might have found a thread about Tyson, a GSD who was infected with Distemper. He managed to pull through. This is his story. This story is about how he beat Distemper, and how he is living a healthy life. This story is a success story, inspiration to all the people and their Pups who have found themselves on the dark side of their life, who are searching for a light on their dark days. We want you to find this thread and find the courage to fight, fight and never lose hope.

The thread I started when he was diagnosed can be found here. :( Tyson - we are infected by Distemper

We have been off this forum for very long but now we are back. I will add some videos of him before the was infected and during the infection and some videos of him after the Distemper to today.

I also want to emphasize the help and guidance I got from this forum, I learned a lot and got very good guidance when we were struggling with Distemper. That helped us a lot.

First week - hard to walk, problem breathing, dischrge from nose and eyes.

I have not added a video from the period of his Distemper. I have one video, I might add it later. The distemper period was very hard for us, he was not able to breathe, his body was paralyzed, he was not able to move, he was not able to eat. We fed him by making a puree of Liver and feeding through Syringe. The discharge from eyes and nose needed cleaning every 2 hours.

Two months later: He is able to stand, but cannot squat to poop so needs help, we bathed him after few months.

Three to four months after: He has a lot of control over his feet now, still cannot run but it's a huge improvement.

Now, this is a few months back, he is healthy and put up some muscle.

Robean.

Robean Gyalchen Lamakhor.

Thank you for the update. I remember this like yesterday. On more then one occasion I have remembered this story and thought about it and hoped for good news. It's nice to see him healthy and enjoying life. It was a difficult time and I give you tons of credit for fighting that fight with your pup.

It has always been a pleasure sharing our story here. I was wanting to share this story here but for one reason or another was not able to.

This update was long due, and I cannot stress the importance of this Forum and all the support by helpful and well-wishing members like you who helped us defeat Distemper.

Thank you very much.

I remember that thread. So glad you are both doing well. You are to be commended for an extraordinary job as this pups human partner. Bravo!

Wishing you many happy years!

P.S. I was in Kathmandu in 1986. Had 6 weeks in your glorious country then.
