Ranger has been scratching a lot for the past 2 months. I keep rolling him over to look on his belly and - no fleas. Could it be food allergies? Or could he be itchy 'cause he is shedding? or do you think I am just not seeing the fleas?
It could be anything. Mine were scratching and I finally changed one dog's bed out of desperation. It stopped. So no I'm usually a totally washable dog bed and washing it often. My other dog is still itching and I don't know why. Try a medicated shampoo. If you search on my posts, I asked the same question recently.
I don't think it is the bed. He doesn't spend much time on it. Or I should say he doesn't spend more time on it than the rest of the floor. He kind of moves around.
Could be allergens in the air. Every region has its own set of allergens. Shedding doesn't make them itchy.
What is he eating? Does his coat look dry?
Lexi has the itchies too, since she got here. I'm going to have the vet look at her, rather than experiment with home remedies. I think that is the wisest course.
My puppy also has this problem.
Constant scratching, mostly around the neck, but no fleas
Will try this out.
Please keep us posted over the next week if he continues to be well
