Default Stomach tacking worth it?

My girl is going to be two in the near future and I am deciding if I am going to do an ovary saving spay, or just spay her.

Beyond that I am looking at stomach tacking. Has anybody had it done as a preventative measure? I am strongly considering doing it. If you have done it what was your experience with it?

If I EVER had a dog opened up for an abdominal surgery, I would most definitely have them tacked at the same time. Honestly I think it's stupid not to do it. That's the only downfall of owning males, I will not already be in the abdomen for a spay.

No, a gastropexy is not a 100% guarantee against a gastric torsion, but it is a VERY good preventative. A GDV surgery is a critical emergency, time is very much of the essence, and it is a very expensive surgery that can have numerous post-op complications.

My previous two had a pexy done on them when they were spayed....neither dealt with torsion...but who's to say I wouldn't have had the same if I didn't have them tacked?

Anyway, if and when I get my current bitch spayed....I will have them perform a pexy on her....I don't know that it can hurt anything ( haven't dug into this thoroughly) and certainly could be a benefit...seems like cheap insurance to me.
