Need some advice (nighttime behavior suddenly changed?)
Hi all,

I have a 3 year old female GSD named Ava. We got her from a breeder when she was about 8 weeks old. Lately she's been acting very strange, and out of character.

Some back round information:

About two weeks ago while playing catch she ran into a pole at full force. She was limping for a day, but about two days later she was back in full force. The other night she came into my room to sleep with me and let out a cry when she jumped on the bed. I figured she must have pulled something or hurt her paw, but the next day she was fine again.

Her normal routine is at bed time she will go for a last call, do her business, get her bones then go to sleep with my mom. Once my mom falls a sleep she will come into my room, sleep with me until I fall asleep. After I fall asleep she will then go to the living room and patrol the house. She's been doing this routine since we stopped crating her at about 6 or 7 months old. The past week she has been doing her business during last call, but then runs straight to my room and lays either under my computer desk or by the side of my bed. It's gotten to the point where she's even skipping going upstairs for her bones, and running straight to my room.

Her appetite is great, she's eating her breakfast and dinner, and begging for table food like normal. She doesn't seem depressed during the day, she goes throughout her normal routines of barking at the bus and people walking on the street, playing catch, and going for walks. She's jumping on the couches and beds just fine, but for some reason at night she's acting very strange/sad.

I was hoping some one could maybe give me some insight to why the sudden night sadness.

Thanks so much!

Not sure where you live (huge help if you put it up on the User CP so it shows up with every post :) like my Poconos stuff to the left of every post).

It may be hard for you vet to figure out a smaller soreness/injure but if you have a Canine Massage therapist, it may be worth the trip to have them do a complete workover.

You can just do a google search, there are tons in NJ if you live there

She could also have messed up her back with the impact. I'd opt for xrays or at least a vet visit to have her checked over. Any sudden change in behavior is cue for a vet visit. This one being coupled with a wreck -- I'd call for an appointment.
