Hip and elbow x-ray question

Hey guys srry if i put this not in the right place. My puppy will turn 6 mos in 2 weeks . I have 2 questions .. Is 6 months old enough to see how his hips and elbow condition will be ? How much does it normally cost for x-ray and OFA evaluation ?

OFA won't do certification until 2 years old. 6 months is around the time we usually do prelims on youngsters. They can change as the dog continues to mature, but usually 6 months is pretty predictive especially from the standpoint of knowing if things are ok or if there is a problem.

OFA fee for hips and elbows together is $40 I believe. Cost of x-rays can vary widely from vet to vet, by as much as hundreds of dollars, even in the same general location. It is DEFINITELY worthwhile to seek out a vet who is experienced with doing OFA films and skilled at getting proper positioning, even if such a vet costs more.
