Default Over 1.5 years and Peed in the house (IS ON PREDNISONE)

So were on the 5th day of the Prednisone 1.5 tabs twice a day. (which is a steroid and makes them drink more, and thus urinate a lot more) She has been needing to go out A LOT more since we put her on it of course and drinks way more as expected. She wakes me up at night.

But today.. She did a huge pee spot by the front door. No communication at all that she had to go out.. :S Although the instance may have been. Someone was going out with water jugs to do the flowers, she ran out cause she saw a cat, and i grabbed her harness and lead her back in the house. And than went to go do something. She may have peed after that.. Maybe she was waiting by the door and a cat happened to be there and she went out to chase it. And forgot to pee because she was too excited about the cat, i brought her back in and then she just released it as i walked away because she did have to go bad.. That is my best guess.

But then just 20 minutes ago. I found another pee spot, new, by the upstairs. Not as large of an amount.. But again, NO COMMUNICATION!

She is usually so good at this.. She will come up to me and whine and go to door. Or at the door she while whine, and groan while laying down, etc. But nothing, no indication. And she didnt go out that long ago before i found the pee by the stairs..

I do not want her to think its okay to pee in the house. Why isn't she communicating with me about it? I try to let her out very often. We are slowly taking her off the pred. its once a day for 5 days, than every other day until its gone. So hopefully it will be less drinking, less urinating..

Why do you think she lost that communication with me suddenly? I dont get it..

Pred will do that. One of our floors is ruined from when Banshee was on it. I don't think they can help it.

Yes, it isn't the dogs fault. leaking is normal when on pred. It also has a distinctive scent compared to normal urine smell(like mape syrup) I wouldn't correct or reprimand for that.

It's the pred. I have an 8 year old dog we got at 1 year and the ONLY accident he's ever had was when he was on pred (which also changed his personality, he's always lazy but got very sulky and moody).

Good to know guys..
She did look quite ashamed of it. I was wondering why she wouldn't come over to me and its because there was a pee puddle between us.. her in the living room and the hallway with the stairs between us and me in the computer room. I'm like, "oh no whats this? Oh uh its pee.." And she looks away from me with her head lowered. I'm like "its okay kid", cleaned it up and then took her outside.

Guess i should at it as, i'm lucky it only started on the 5th day of high dosage? lol

Thats quite interesting you say that though Liesje, the vet and most people say they become more rambunctious. Zelda acts quite sleepy and down a lot of the time. And the family is like, "I like her like this." lol I dont, only because i know thats not the true Zelda!

I put Onyx on corn silk caps when she was on Pred, supposedly helps with incontinence.

Thank goodness i will not be missing the 1-2 wake ups at night and refilling her water bowl constantly! (Although i am use to it because of her past diarrhea history)

Well if i ever have to put her back on it again, i will look into that. Because i'm sure she doesn't like the feeling of peeing the house and incontinence either.
