Gracilius Chondracture (moved to health issues)

Has any one experienced with their gsd- common to the dog where the gracilius muscle gets damaged possibly from a strain and forms scar tissue and literally contracts causing the rear leg to not have full extension.
My guy has had it for a year and wonder if any one has considered the surgery.

There is a nice article on the injury in the Jan./Feb./Mar. issue of DVG America. It also provides sources/articles for further research into stem cell therapy that is now being tried to treat dogs with no more than a moderate level of injury.

Forgot to add, I know of one individual who went the surgery route with poor results in that one instance--apparently, the level of scarring remained about the same, but they were able to release enough of the tissue in one area to reduce pain and increase range of motion slightly. It did improve quality of life.
