Default fly strike help

Heya,

Tasker and Lycan are getting dreadful fly strike but when I put SWAT on their ears they eat it off, which I'm pretty certain is not recommended. Then, because they don't have SWAT they get more fly strike which makes their ears painful which means they don't want to have more SWAT put on them. End result? I have two dogs who are getting very bad fly strike ears. I could really use some suggestions.

Vanilla extract. I know it works to keep gnats away and I have never seen a fly on the dogs. I put it behind their ears and on the base of their tail.

They also have a bag you fill up with water and it attracts the flies, once they go in they can't get back out. Just put it in an area where they are and you'll notice a reduction. I got the bag at Home Depot .
