Help!!!

Hey guys, kind of freaking out here.

So yesterday, Zoey was completely fine acting her normal self. Before bed, I gave her a chew chip around 9PM. Around 10PM she jumps off my bed and walks around the room like she needs to go out. Let her out and she starts to act strange... Bring her back to my room and now she can't jump back up on my bed?????

She is acting the same as usual with just a little less energy it seems. She's a Mali so she often jumps up in my arms and I hold her and give her kisses and what not.... she cant do that today.

She walks fine, runs just as fast, poop was solid but I can't figure this out and I'm fearing the worst. She's only a 5 year old dog with a lot of life left.

Vet wont see us until Monday, thoughts?

a rawhide??
get her in to the vet she may have a blockage
those things are horrible
i never use them

I agree--get her to a vet asap. Is there an emergency vet clinic in your area? It will be expensive, but you need to find out right away what's going on. Let us know...

She's been pooping normal? so I kind of ruled out blockage...

I swapped her over to Sentry Fiproguard on Wednesday.... not sure if that has anything to do with it

Check her throat to see if a piece of rawhide got stuck. My dog did this and acted the same way. I had to put my hand down her throat to try to get it and as a last resort I made her throw up, which is very dangerous because it can get stuck even more and block airway. I only did it because I worked at a vet before. I would recommend taking yours in.

not sure your assumption that the normal poop you observed rules out the blockage, as that would be fecal matter behind the suspected blockage. any vomiting ?

Nickyb 06-08-2014 10:02 AM

No vomiting but she is acting her 100% normal self today, jumping on the bed, jumping in my arms etc etc etc

I'm thinking maybe it was huntergreens comment about the poop being behind the blockage.

I'll keep a close eye on her over the next few days.

Anyone think this may be Lyme disease?

keep an eye on her and no more rawhide. as for lyme, wouldn't be first on my list to think about, but i am far from an expert.
