Jango is experiencing panosteitis in his front leg which is causing him to limp a little. The vet took a look at him and everything is fine, just some puppy growing pains which are common for GSD. This is the first time I've dealt with this before, and am wondering what you guys have done in the past to make the pain better?
I'd love to start taking him running but I want him to be pain-free before we begin.
a dog shouldnt be running until they are at least a year old, preferably no hard running until 18 months. So don't even try that no matter pain free or not.
Panosteitis is not actually "puppy growing pains", it's a weakening in the long bones causing inflammation, largely considered to be cause by rapid growth rates.
I've used a combination of NSAIDS, Rimadyl, and pain medication, Tramadol, along with decreased exercise.

How did your vet diagnose the pano? Was it by observation and or palpation? Or did you need an X-Ray?
