Default THR vs FHO

Our 1 yr old Shep. was just x-rayed yesterday, we took her to a specialist today and have a few questions based on anyone's experience......She has severe hip dysplasia in her left hip where the ball is not even in the socket. The surgeon there said he would be open to trying a total hip replacement on her, or we had the option of doing a FHO.....anyone have any experiences with either one of these or both?

Hello, sorry about your dog's situation. I know how heartbreaking that is. My 1 year old male had bi-lateral FHO at 6 months old. He's doing really good. He was running around and chasing his tail in less than a month. Check out this thread if you haven't already. FHO Surgery ? I'll try to post some video of him this weekend so you can get an idea.
