Hey all! I'm new to dog ownership so I have lots of questions! I got my 6month old GSD spayed yesterday. She came home and slept all night only getting up to readjust. Woke up at 6am and peed outside. I tried to get her to eat and she won't. She also won't take her pain meds the doctor prescribed. She is drinking and has been sleeping ever since. Is this normal? I figure if she's in a lot of pain she would be unable to sleep and crying right?
what did they give for pain? can you stick it in her mouth toward the back of her throat so she can take it?
refusal to eat might be okay as long as she is drinking
tonight if she refuses dinner again maybe mix in a little can food or cottage cheese to make it interesting
but if she refuses even then it is worth a call to the vet
They gave her Rovera for the pain. After I posted she perked up a little and took her pill with like a half cup of dry kibble. She is sleeping again but still drinking and eating a little. I'm hoping she still needs to sleep off meds from yesterday.
ok so that is rimadyl it is good if she can eat it
or put it down her throat
it will help with the pain and inflammation following surgery
anesthesia is hard on some dogs and yes she should be perkier by this evening
She's been sitting up more so I think she's starting to wake up! If she's still blah tomorrow I'll call the vet. We r just paranoid bc when we first got her she was really sick w different issues and we finally got her healthy again and gaining weight I don't want her to lose too much again!
