My puppy has parvo

My 9.5 week old puppy was diagnosed with parvo yesterday. Currently he is at the vet. His symptoms included diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy and lack of appetite. Last night he luckily did eat some small amount of rice and chicken and he still drinks water. Please pray for my little puppy, Luke.

Also, while he's gone I know I need to clean the house. I have heard to use Bleach. How do I dilute it? Also, part of the house has wood floors but most is carpet, is it safe to use the diluted bleach on the carpet or will it take out the color? Do all of his soft toys need to be thrown away or can they be washed? Besides the floor and all hard surfaces like counters and walls, his kennel, etc. what else needs to be cleaned?

Trifectant | Revival Animal Health
safer than bleach

fyi he cant get parvo again from the germs already in the house

however new dogs to the home would be able to get it
like if you got another puppy or someone brought their puppy to play

washing the toys and bedding would disinfect them, especially if you added a dab of bleach to the load or washed on hot

bleaching the carpet would take out the color and destroy the fibers
look into the tri fectant

Ok I was worried he could catch it again. I only learned about the disease yesterday, so it's all very new. I guess it makes sense he can't get it again. There will only be him in this house.

No word yet for today. Still only 9AM here. Hopefully doing well.

well unless he pooped all over the walls and floors and all
just wipe down his kennel and some of the bleachable things
with a solution of bleach
i think the ratio is 1:30 but i cant be sure

you dont want to use straight bleach at all as the virus will
envelope and you cant kill it with straight bleach that way
it protects itself in the face of straight bleach

your puppy is very cute
i hope he makes it

@my boy diesel - Ok just wanted to make sure. I never want to go through this again.

my boy diesel 03-01-2014 12:52 PM

totally understand
your puppy will not be able to get parvo again
but three weeks or so after he recovers from parvo you will need to restart his
vaccines because distermper is still a possibility
be sure to discuss this with your vet
restarting the vaccines that is

good luck :)
