Can someone please tell me if this in an earmite issue or an infection?

I'm not a vet or medically trained in any way but it looks like ear mites to me.

some advice here

My advice is to take him to the vet for a proper diagnosis. Also, keep him away from all other pets you may have as ear mites are very contagious.

Best of luck

You need to get to the vets to make sure....the quicker you clear it up the less he'll be miserable.
