fish oil for allergies?
Pepper (3.5yo) seems to get recurrent allergies on her paws. The vet suggested I could try fish oil capsules. Do those work? Can I use regular human fish oil capsules...she's about 65 lbs? Any insight?

I don't think the fish oil will hurt at all, but it also won't stop the dog from chewing her paws. You need to find out what she is allergic to in order to help(usually it is environmental)
I use human fish oil gelcaps(quality brand) and give 1000mg 2x's a day. You can also give benedryl/the dosage for that is 1mg per # of the dog.

Does she ever smell like Frito's?
Does she have gunk in her ears?
Is she on a grain free food?
Could be yeast.
Onyx has good suggestions!
A gradual food change to a Non-Grain food would be the first thing to check out. Each site has a tab to click to find locations with your zip code. Non Grain Foods:
Embark: DE-Hydrated food: Embark - Grain Free, High Protein Dog Food | The Honest Kitchen
Acana: Acana Regionals | Acana
Fromms: Four-Star Gourmet Recipes for dogs - Fromm Family Foods
Nature's VARIETY: Instinct Grain-Free Kibble Dog Food - Beef | Instinct Pet Food for Dogs and Cats
If it is yeast, you can use a few things for this to help get her gut in line. Digestive Enzyme/Probiotic called Digest All Plus: The Wholistic Pet
OR: Sunday Sundae: Sunday Sundae Nutritional Supplement
Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg's Organic or another Organic Non Processed ACV is the best to use for this): It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral.
Added to food:
• Up to 25# = ˝ teaspoon per day
• 25# - 50# = 1 teaspoon per day
• 50# -75# = 2 teaspoons per day
• 75# 100# = 1 Tablespoon per day.
If the dog doesn’t seem to like it, mix the AVC first with a Tablespoon or two of low fat, no salt, chicken broth, then drizzle over food.
Mix 50% ACV and 50% Purified water in a clean spray bottle and spray several times daily on affected areas. You can also use this to clean out her ears.
Coconut Oil can also help:
Purchase USDA Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil – raw/cold pressed (should also state No GMO & No Hexane!) from a health food store.
Add 1 tsp. of organic coconut oil for every 10/20 pounds of body weight to your dogs’ food. Besides promoting a good balance of organisms in the intestines, it has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties! It’s easy to digest and assimilate.
Hope something helps!
