I got chicken-pox when I was 23, I was miserable. My dog at the time did her best to make me comfy, mainly snuggling with me. I called the e-vet up to make sure I wasn't going to give my bestest chicken-pox and boy did that tech ever get a laugh out of it.

Sorta like this:

Tech "Hello Regional Emergency Animal Care Hospital"
Me "Uhm, can dogs get chicken-pox?"
Tech "Oh, worried your kids will give Fido the itchies?"
Me "No, uhh...I have the pox."
Tech "You sound sort of old for chicken-pox...how old are you?"
Me "Twenty three, it sucks."
Tech *laughs* "Yeah, you are in for it and your dog will be fine. Watch your temps and don't scratch."

I was in for it. Ended up in the hospital with wicked high temps. Spiked around 107, gotta love ice baths.

Not to hijack this thread but there was a good reason that Mothers held chicken-pox parties before the vaccine was invented. At these parties the chicken-pox child exposed the virus to all the other little ones so that they would catch it early when you are older-as you experienced it's much rougher….on the bright side at least dogs escape the pox.
