Default Hair loss around eyes

I have a 15 week old, we took him to the vet about 2 weeks ago because he was itching like crazy and had red bumps all over his belly, at that visit the vet mentioned that Ender should have more hair around his eyes. He didn't elaborate on what it could be. He's on antibiotics for the itching for about another 7 days (mostly cleared up) and the vet said we would talk about his eyes after the abx are complete. Any thoughts??? Thank you

Ok, here are some things to maybe check out before going back to the vet.

Hair loss around the eyes sounds like Demodex -- Demodectic Mange -- this is a common mange mite that is present in most dogs and causes no problems in most dogs. If the immune system is immature (probably your pup) or there is a immune suppressing disease or drugs the dog is on, then the little mites get out of hand, reproducing and creating hair loss. This is NOT terribly irritating for the dog. Usually it clears up on its own as the immune system catches up -- six weeks with treatment or not.

This type of mange is not contagious dog-to-dog. It is passed from the dam to the pups while they are lactating and behyond that stage, the bites do not travel from host to host.

However, dogs can get secondary infections, like canine staph, which is itchy little red bumps. And this has to be treated with a full run of antibiotics.

There is also red mange, which is terribly itchy and very contagious to both canines and humans. In humans it is called scabies. I am doubting this though. But you can look into it.

These are my best guesses as to what ails your pup.
