Severe Itching - Acceptable Humidity Levels?
This is a piggy back to my earlier post about fur loss here. I've never bothered to look at a humidistat in my house (I have a few on the wall) but last glance it said 18%. I'm wondering if this is the cause of severe itching?

I installed them because our daylight basement tends to run on the high side of humidity and I have a dehumidifier that keeps it ~50%, but even that is showing 20%.

Dollies itching and scratching seems to be in the fall-winter which is our driest season, even though it has been very wet here.

We have n.g heat and keep the house pretty warm and our house is so air tight that if the damper in the fireplace is open we smell ash throughout the first floor.

I'm starting to wonder. What is considered an acceptable range for humidity?

I'm pretty sure the ideal is 40 to 60%. 18 seems really low. I have noticed more itching with Indie lately - she's not tearing out her coat or anything severe, but it seems more frequent that she stops what she's doing and scratches various parts for a half minute or so. I just switched her to Diamond Naturals after a months-long struggle to find something she liked. Now I'm trying to figure out if it's the dry winter air (we have NG heat too) or the food. I hope not the food since it seems to be the only one she really likes. I haven't checked my humidity level in the house lately - maybe I should.

We have the same issue. She is not pulling her hair out, it's just receding(?). It started after k9 advantix now vet things allergies.

We switched her to wellness core ocean and she loves it,but has not changed anyone.
