Default Greasy Coat

I just petted Roxy, our 4 year old female GSD and her coat is so greasy. My husband washes her at least once a week, sometimes twice, because she has this unpleasant odor. Any ideas what is going on here? She's never experienced this recent occurance before. Neither has any of our other dogs.

What are you feeding her? That makes a huge difference

Possibly her food. Or you can try taking her to the vet.

This isn't normal, I would take her to the vet to see if she might have some kind of skin infection. I often see dogs with yeast infections in their skin, and they do have a strong odor and very greasy coats.
