Any concerns with 14 week old GSD playing on tile floor(slipping) ?

We've had our male GSD since he was 8 weeks old. Our whole house has tile floors....I still remind my wife of her decision weekly...I was totally against it (oldest son being 4 youngest being 1 1/2) . It's hard on them... Lol...

Anyways, we play with Bane a lot inside. Weather has been pretty nasty here lately....Since our former GSD had moderate/severe hip/elbow dysplasia, I tend to worry a lot....When rolling the ball, he will slide around etc.... Do I have anything to worry about? We also play tug and have been doing a lot of marker training indoors due to weather and me not getting off work until almost dark when working day lights. . We keep his weight in check.

Would you have any concerns with your pup chasing a ball, playing tug, or marker training indoors on tile floor? Might be a stupid question, but it has been on my mind.

I'm ready for some warmer weather.

Get yourself some rubber backed throw rugs. They help a lot. I have the same concerns as you with the sliding. I have Pergo floors and they are like Ice when Jonas has wet feet. Play Carefully.

We have a mish mosh of flooring, tile, flagstone, linoleum, hardwood and carpet. Unfortunately the majority of the flooring that my pups hit when the first come in from out side is linoleum in the puppy room/office, then flagstone down the hallway, then tile in the kitchen, then carpet in the living area and bedrooms. We have several rugs but they don't always help. And Silas has frog legged a few times. Scares the crap out of me. No matter how I place the rugs he always tends to find the spots without them. I try to remind him to slow down and we never play on them but when he comes bolting in from outside on a wet day, his excitement sometimes overtakes him.

I bought several cheap rugs and runners to put in the house for Russell. It made a difference.

Yeah where we have them if that is the route he takes they help. I probably need to get a few more but by that time I will have the whole kitchen floor covered.....LOL

what's the weather like where you live? is it to bad to play in
the yard? you can play in the dark with a dog. i would be very
careful about playing on hardwood floors. you could buy some cheap
area rugs or runners and buy the rubber backing so the rugs don't
slip.

Weather is starting to improve now....My backyard was a solid sheet of ice now it's a mud pit.....there for awhile it was too cold to play outside with the lows being around 4-5 degrees.....It's looking much better now....My youngest son has pneumonia, so my wife hasn't had much time to play with him the last couple of days....I get off work at 5am, so I'm going to take him out for a bit when I get home. Took him out to the farm yesterday. He got to meet the horses and cows again....One of the cows started to charge me and Bane....He didn't know what to think of that....I stepped in front and ran them off.

You can buy a stress Matt like material by the foot at Home Depot. I have a strip that covers the kitchen and where they had to pass to go thru garage outside and the entry way. It's 3foot wide. As they got older they wouldn't hardly walk on tile and did slip on it. It's on a roll in the flooring depart.
