Hi all
My 10.1/2 mth old GSD jack has just had to have his anal gland emptied. The vet said to increase his fiber so I thought of veg. What is best veg for dogs. Can anyone give me some advice please.

Green beans, canned pumpkin are both good for adding fiber.

Get the pure canned pumpkin, add a T or so to each meal, Green beans, you can use canned but I would use unsalted..If you get fresh beans, steam them (atleast I would).

Potatoes may be to starchy and not really 'fiber' IMHO,,carrots are high in sugar but are good for a treat.

What food are you feeding? Alot of owners of anal gland issued dogs use a fish base.

I can't seem to find pure pumpkin anywhere. I live in Manchester, England. Any clues anyone.

have to ask, do beans cause enough gas for bloat to be a concern?

You could also try ground Psyllium Seed:
There are several species of psyllium, but the seed husks from Plantago ovata, also known as blonde psyllium, are the best quality and have the highest fiber content.

Glad I looked here.
Our 1.5 has had her glands squeezed 3 times at the vet since we rescued her in July.
I requested it because she kept licking her bottom, but no scooting .
we have never had a dog get squeezed this much.
each time the vet said they were full.
Any more tips on how diet can help would be greatly appreciated.
