1) Sores at corners of the mouth:
My 2 year old boy has some sores on the corners of the mouth. I have treated it in the past with Betamethasone clioquinol cream successfully. (Cleaned area with hydrogen peroxide, applied cream. Results are very good. Over night there is reduced inflammation, and within 48 hours of application, symptoms disappear).
But it keeps coming back.
I suspect it is dryness / infection exacerbated with him scratching it.
Have applied neosporin tonight.
Problem is: it keeps coming back. Not sure if it is auto immune disease.
It does not seem to bother him. He eats and plays as normal. At first I suspected the large "Nylabone". So we stopped giving it to him. But the problem persists. His diet is 50/50 Kirkland signature chicken and rice and raw chicken.
2) Sores on the back.
He used to have very bad dryness / red spots on his back. I thought it was due to "hot spots". Again betamethasone clioquinol would help for a few days, but the problem would reappear.
We saw the patches of affected area increase significantly over time, and were worried about mange.
But since applying frontline plus the problem has gone away. On the first application of frontline plus the problem receded. Within 1 week the redness and bumps disappeared, areas affected shrank noticeably. Within 2 weeks, there were small one or two red spots only. Within 3 weeks, only dryness and flakes. On the 4th week, the skin was healthy!
We administered frontline once every month for 3 months, then gave it 1 month 20 days of break (instead of 1 month), and we saw the problem reappear. Not so much as redness or bumps, but he started scratching his back again, and the area was a bit bloody due to him biting the affected area. We didn't wait, we administered the frontline plus.
Once we applied the frontline plus, and the back problem disappeared.
We are planning on a cycle of 1 month 15 days between the reapplication of frontline plus.
Note: The sores on the corners of the mouth persist during the frontline plus treatment.
3) Hip joints cracking.
He has a habit of getting up and stretching himself, especially after a prolonged period of inactivity, like waking up in the morning, or just lazing around while the others finished a movie, etc. He stretches his front legs and hind legs.
He will keep stretching his hind legs, till there is an audible cracking sound. One single crack. Reasonably sharp.
We have fed him kibbles with glucosamine and chondritin since he was 1 year of age. And 1 glucosamine / chondritin tablet twice a week since he was 6 months of age to 1 year. From 1 year of age, he has been getting 3 tablets a week. Now it is 1 tablet a day.
He goes on at least a 2 to 4 mile walk a day. I used to take him to the doggie play yard. But have stopped since the joint cracking started.
He does not show any problems / indications of being in pain whatsoever. Like a healthy pup, he gambols around the house and likes to jump, run, play.
But I am playing it safe.
Also, no history of hip dysplasia in his family line in the past 3 to 4 generations. He came OFA certified with a 2 year guarantee. Breeder is reputable.

#1: Sores at corners of mouth:
This could mean a number of things!
*A vitamin deficiency: specifically B-2=Riboflavin & B-9=Folic Acid. Or even Iron. Your dog may not be assimilating it from his food.
*Allergies to medications
Or something worse like: *Bullous Phemphigold - An auto immune disease which left untreated could be fatal.
#2 Sores on back:
not a fan of toxic topicals.
“Willard Water is one of life’s mysteries (it is a special combination of water, fossilized organics, sodium meta silicate, sulfated castor oil, calcium chloride, and magnesium sulfate). Most people have never heard of it. Those who have, tend to use it religiously, even though they aren’t sure what it is or how it works. They say it improves digestion, reduces migraine headaches, relieves arthritis, improves skin health, heals burns and wounds without scarring, helps balance blood sugar, treats gum disease, supports detoxification, lowers high blood pressure, alleviates pain, and is helpful in the treatment of dozens of other conditions, including cancer.
A greyhound kennel got rid of a stubborn virus when they used Willard Water
Owners of aggressive dogs report a mellowing after the dogs drink Willard Water
Hot spots sprayed with Willard Water can dry up over night
Spraying cut pads with Willard Water not only stops the bleeding but seems to relieve pain
Swelling and irritation caused by an insect bite is reduced
Willard Water cleanses wounds
It promotes healing and if used when sutures are still in, can reduce scarring
It is used in dogs' water and in their food when traveling to reduce stress
It is used as an eyewash
It cleans a dog's ears
It helps keep stress levels under control
It is very helpful for many skin disorders when used topically
It helps relieve dogs of diarrhea
It can be used as a coat conditioner"
For all animals, Willard Water seems to act as a whole-body tonic. That is, it’s safe to use in small amounts for long periods of time, during which it apparently helps to bring into balance all of the body’s systems.
The following doses have worked well for dogs, but so have other concentrations. If you’re experimental, try a little less or more and observe your dog’s response.
For best results, use good-quality filtered, bottled, or uncontaminated water from a reliable source. Reverse-osmosis filtered water is highly recommended. Hard water, which contains high concentrations of minerals, is supposed to interfere with or slow the action of Willard Water.
One fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) concentrate per gallon of water is the strength recommended for daily human/pet consumption as well as for topical application on pets and people. This same strength is a good daily drinking water for animals with acute or chronic health problems or for any animals during hot weather or times of stress.
Use this solution to fill your dog’s water bowl, which should be available at all times. Add it to dry, canned, or raw food.
Dr. DeHaan’s only caution is to start slowly. He introduces Willard Water gradually and in small doses, giving small dogs 1 to 2 tablespoons of the dilute solution daily, adding it to drinking water or food. Medium-sized dogs receive 4 tablespoons per day, and large or giant breeds start with ½ to ¾ cup (4 to 6 ounces).
“Too much too fast can accelerate the detoxification response,” he explains. “If your dog gets diarrhea, ease off a little until his system catches up.”This temporary symptom is the only adverse side effect Dr. DeHaan has seen while treating thousands of dogs with Willard Water.”

Applied neosporin to both the corners of the mouth before going to sleep. Today morning one side has completely healed, other side has reduced inflammation, but redness and some blood. Wiped with alcohol towel, and reapplied neosporin.
I see this treatment works. Will report when he gets the condition again.
