Dealing with Itching and Scratching?
I've just changed my two-year-old's food. He was on a lamb w/ a chicken stock (Natural Instinct). I changed it to Merrick -- duck and potato, no grain, no chicken stock. Pork stock.
I just changed his food so nothing huge can happen to his itchiness yet. But in the mean time, any suggestions for how to help his skin feel better?
I feel so badly for him watching his itch and scratch.
Should I take him to the vet?
i would go to the Vet and i would give my dog a bath usuing
some organic or natural shampoo.
Have you considered a raw diet?
I would definitely vet first, though. When you're considering it, the symptoms probably warrant it. Make an appointment :)
I, personally, probably wouldn't mention PMR (prey model raw) to the vet, though. They're not usually fans. Might put you through several months of a science diet first. Some, not all vets. There are many good threads in the forum, lots of success stories with skin issues resolved with a raw diet. And just as many, or more, science diet reviews.

A combination of 50% Apple Cider Vinegar and 50% water rinse after his bath with an organic shampoo , as Doggie Dad mentioned, but not with oatmeal as an ingredient, in case he is grain sensitive. Have some treats ready....some dogs do not like the smell of vinegar.;)
You can also give Benedryl.
