Delayed heat?

Hi there, I am pretty new to this site...I just joined yesterday and have a question...

I have a female German shepherd who had her first heat between the age of 9-10 months old and in my opinion is now a month late for her second heat cycle. She is now almost 18 months old and still no tell tale signs of her heat cycle. Is it possible for young females to skip a cycle? Please advise.

They can be irregular when they are young or you missed it if she is very clean. Does she check out medically?

I'm pretty sure I didn't miss it....no signs of swelling and definitely no aggressive males at the dog park. Her first heat was normal...I will give it another month before I bring her in to the vet...I'm still waiting to get her hip X-rays.
