Default Puppy showing signs of hip problems

My six and a half month old pup has been showing signs of early hip problems. I was hoping some of you might reccomend early preventative measures. He sits frog legged, pulls more than pushes with his legs when jumping etc..
The other day my daughter and her friend took him for a walk. What I didn't know was that her friend is a track super star and ran him at full speed. Is that ok? He loved her after that. What kind of supplement should I start him on?

I would want to know for sure. At 6 months you can submit prelims to OFA. Make sure your vet is good about positioning for the X-rays.

I second the x-rays, unless you have them done you will never know for sure if something is going on. You can get a copy and have an orthopedic specialist look at them too if you decide you want a more experienced opinion.

I can't really picture the symptoms you are describing, but the signs my dog showed were periodic lameness (especially after lots of activity), struggling to get to feet from a laying down position, pain upon manipulation of back legs (like when she was laying down and we were wiping her fur down or brushing her), and bunny hopping while running.

A joint supplement won't hurt, I have my HD girl on a combination of Glycoflex 3 and Jointagen, but you may want to ask your vet for a specific recommendation.
