Default sores on mouth and nose caused by meloxicam?

Wondered if anyone had ever had meloxicam or metacam cause sores on their dogs?
About a month after being put on Metacam Otro started to get two sores on his lower lips. At first I thought it was just doggie pimples and just made sure and wipe them clean often and even put a bit of neosporin ointment on them. They were not clearing up so I spoke to the vet clinic about them. They reccomended that I use a spray ( I cannot remember the name now ) that I had for our other dog, that was used to treat the sores that he licked onto his back from allergies. I did use this spray for several weeks but the sores have still not cleared up. They are still there. They seem to get a bit worse and then clear up a bit, but never go away. They ooze just a bit but not a whole lot.
Just recently I noticed a small discoloration on his nose. It has now progressed into a sore on both sides of his nose. There doesn't appear to be a discharge from them but he does lick them a bit so it is a bit hard to tell for sure. They are just red sores.
Has anyone ever had this happen with their dogs while on meloxicam/metacam?
I do have a vet appointment for Otro next week. We will be changing his medication then and I will be asking about these sores. But I just thought I'd ask on here in the meantime. Impatient me wants to get some info sooner

I had to stop because of GI bleeding. It would not surprise me if it causes damage to the mucous membranes in general.

He hasn't had any bleeding but has had a couple of bouts of nausea and not wanting to eat very recently, and we had to stop the meds for several days. He is now taking them again, just until his appointment. He is doing fine and eating like a total pig!

Well, the vet didn't think it was the meloxicam causing the sores. He said it is more of a systimic infection and prescribed an anitbiotic.
