Can I give something for pain?
I suspect Kira has a sprain in her left rear. Just had a nice workout, and she seemed fine.
Then about an hour later, I notice the limp. She's a little mushy, so I was wondering if I can give her something? She's just about 60 lbs. |
I don't like to give anything for pain mostly because then they will not limit their own activity.. I like for the dog to limit their own activity so I can really see how bad it is.. especially if it is just a sprain or the like.
Stark slipped on some ice and is showing some favoritism on his one rear leg as well, I am just keeping him quiet, leashed walks only and watching him. |
If you don't have canine aspirin (you can get it at a pet store), I would give one (325 mgs) people aspirin the coated one against tummy upset. One now and one before bedtime. Tomorrow if Kira isn't better, I suggest you call your vet.

i wouldn't give my dog meds people prescribe on line.
go to the Vet or E-Vet or call them. i hope it's nothing serious. |
I'd just keep her toned down for a day or two and see how that goes,,

I was told to NEVER give aspirin..too hard on the stomach..just my opinion...

I hope she feels better soon. If you do give her enteric coated aspirn or anything else and then end up at the vet it is important to tell them what she has had. I think it is aspirn and rimadyl that will react if given within 24-48 hours or so.

wet a hand towel and throw it in the freezer - while still pliable, you can wrap around leg from hip to knee...if that's where hurt...reduces inflammation.
feel one knee and the other at same time - see if you can feel heat from the left... And stay away from the NSAIDS...get some curcumin (tumeric), or devils claw, or yucca....give it time, NO stop and start movements, jumping etc. and nourish those muscles, tendons and joints Homemade bone stock - hugely important (natural glucosamine, type II collagen and super cheap - need to use vinegar 1/4 c, to extract all the properties.) |
