My GSD has been itching like crazy pretty much since we got this one in November. The itching has increased recently and I observed hair loss around the tips of his ears and redness in his ears and around his eyes.
Took him in and my vet did a skin scrape on the first visit. The skin scrape was a success and he has sarcoptic mange. Not that I want my dog to have this but at least we have an answer. The vet showed me the skin scrape under the microscope so I was able to understand the mange. What a wierd problem and my vets believes it was on my pup when I bought him from the breeder. Just wanted to share a skin scrape success story because I know a lot of times it can be scrape after scrape after scrape before anything is found if it even is! |

sarcoptic or demodex -- I believe sarcoptic needs to be reported to public health ?
the irradication and prevention for you to get scabies from sarcoptic is a big ordeal. If it is and the breeder has it at her place and is spreading they need to be stopped and have things under control. Sarcoptic Mange |
