Where are you you located, in the States?

Prevention: Some people use topical chemicals specifically for tick prevention. Some people use non chemical options. Each has it's pro's and con's and you should research to form your own decision.

If this were my dog, I'd be asking vet to treat for lyme disease as a proactive measure.

Yep, thats a tick from my view point. Your vet will tell you what you can use. Frontline flea and tick works nice though. Once a month treatment to help prevent.
