Is this a wart?
 

Hi all,

Noticed this "lump" on my 5.5 month old's GSD about a month ago. Showed it to my vet and he said not to worry about it unless more start showing up... which doesn't exactly provide an explanation...

I've been keeping an eye on it, and it seems like it has gotten a bit larger, more crust-like, and also lighter colour. It was previously dark grey, now it's looking lighter.

Any ideas what this could be and what I should be doing about it? My vet is really proving to be rather useless, I'm looking for another one. If by some chance someone from Vancouver, Canada is reading this and can recommend one, I'm all ears!

It's common in pups. They usually catch it from sharing water bowls/spit with infected dogs. They drop off by themselves after a few weeks. Search for Papilloma. My girl got them at about 6mo, about 4 warts, (one on her tongue which was gross) they all fell off by themselves. It was kind of gross during the time she had them but she cleared up perfectly. I don't believe there is much the vet can do. My vet said they could remove them but did not recommend to bother/pay as they will fall off by themselves.

It WILL fall off by itself soon enough, my GSD also had this but had it on her cheek, took her to the vet who said they could remove it for a few hundred dollars or wait to see if it would fall off, glad i waited because less than a week later it fell off! Glad I didnt spend the money for nothing!
