Advice needed - fibrocartilaginous embolism

My dear friend's 5 year old male GSD has just spent four days in the emergency/specialty hospital with paralysis of the hind legs. Zack is from the same breeder as my boy, a younger litter, and a super active pupper. He was running up the deck steps from the yard, whacked his tibias on both legs on the stair edge and the paralysis followed later that day. The neurologist's diagnosis is fibrocartilaginous embolism which is basically a stroke in the spinal column. He has recovered to the point where he can go home, has bowel and bladder control and can stand. The prognosis for further improvement is guarded.
My friend would appreciate hearing experiences from anyone who has had this condition with their dog. She also welcomes advice on mobility aids such as harnesses or carts.

Your friend could look into Stem Cell therapy...

Erik Sjonnesen, owner and veterinarian of Malton Veterinary Services in Mississauga (pronounced Shawnason)

His clinic was the first to do in Ont. prior, fat cells had to be express delivery to California

She can contact him to see if this might be useful.
