Hot Spot and Vetrycin?
Hiya all
Well Hex has another Hot spot :( I bought some Vetrycin spray recently seeing as it was highly recommended on here. Just wondering how often do you guys apply it? Cheers |
I think you can use the coconut oil on that if I'm not mistaken. I know my cat has gotten a couple ouchies, with fur missing and all and I used the coconut oil on him and he healed rather quickly. I'm sure someone with more experience with these things will post shortly:)

I use the vetericyn 3 maybe 4 times a day:)

You want the spot to dry out and also make sure the dog can't lick it. I can't use coconut oil because my dogs *love* it and would just lick it (so I can only use it for wounds on the face). Usually I gently wash the hotspot with soapy warm water and spray Vetericyn, but then after that I pretty much leave it alone. I find the more I try to treat it, the more attention I draw to it and my dog is more likely to like it. Sometimes I apply Neo-Predef powder (antibacterial). Also make sure to cut and shave the hair around the spot so it doesn't get gumped into the wound.

I have found the opposite, but do agree you want to try and dry it out and keep the hair shaved around it:)
But of course I'm using it on big nasty fungus type sores that my male aussie is prone to get during certain times of the year.. |
