Tail update - or lack thereof :) with a picture!
Well the tail is gone!
After the Vet shaved it to remove the lump she found more lumps in that area so we decided to go the more aggressive route and remove the tail rather then dealing with open sores that were unlikely to heal properly.
Mojo came home on Friday night after her surgery - she was totally out of it and it was so darn hot here, over 104 degrees. I was really concerned because she has to wear a cone (elizabethan collar) and she wasn't drinking - I managed to get her to lick some ice cubes and at about 3am she finally had a pee and a drink.
Yesterday she spent most of her day either on the couch or in her crate LOL she's loving the attention, not often she gets to lay on the couch and people bring her a water bowl LOL She was still quite frantic about her butt, wanting to turn around and look at it - it's like she gets a fright all of a sudden when she's moving because it feels funny.
This morning when I took the picture she was feeling really good, (she's still on painkillers tho) but she went outside on lead for a potty break and when I let her walk around in the yard for a couple of minutes she actually trots and even cantered back to me when I called her :) she also wants to play fetch with her kong but she's not up to that yet.
She still gets a bit scared at times - the lack of tail must just feel really weird, she will walk and then all of a sudden go to spin around to look at her tail then get all hunched up and run to me and cuddle against my legs - but she is moving much more confidently already :)
We're back to the vet on tuesday to get the pathology results from the tail - keep your fingers crossed for us that it was a localised issue!!!!!!!!
To all of you who had tail-less dogs, were they able to swim ok? There's a lot of conflicting info on that - Mojo loves to swim so I hope it won't be a problem for her once she's all healed up!
