I'm not sure about other LID brands, but I know that Natural Balance LID has a venison & sweet potato. They also do Boar and rabbit as well.

Thank you! Maybe we will try to switch after this bag of food and once we get the ear problems under control. I just feel so bad for her - she isn't being herself. She has a follow up appointment with the vet next week (hopefully we can wait and it doesn't get worse!)

SukiGirl, I commented in your other thread about the anal glands...I want to comment on this b/c seemingly the concensus to keep switching foods to LID's is the solution.

but first I need to ask if the Zymox is teh hydrocortisone solution - is yes, then this may be suppressing the immune system.

The food, regardless if it is LID is high in carbs. These are causing an alkaline enviroment and bacteria and yeasts are proliferating - basically the food (sugars) is fermenting and feeding these microbes.

Your dog is cycling toward ill health - when the ears become inflamed that is a sign of major organ toxicity...Liver AND Kidneys.

You have had itchy skin, anal glands issues, enflamed ears now AND your dog is showing signs of wanting to be alone, listlessness and lack of appetite - she is sick. You are not crazy.

I am 99% sure you can change all of this around if you fast her for a day or two w/some home-made bone broth, then switch (no transition/mix w/kibble) to RAW w/a good probiotic and a pancreatin (porcine pancreas) digestive enzyme to help assist the transition - may not need for life - but also, so you do not fail the transition - low fat - high fat may cause diarrhea and you will think it was the raw itself.

Otherwise, I think you are going to run the gammit of allergy tests, and scripted food and steroids and abx....do you think this is better route?
Cheers

Are you adding water to the kibble with the metamucil? If not, you should. My puppy's anal sacs are finally empty, but I don't know if it was the silicea that did it, or if it was a seasonal allergy that went away with the cold weather, or if it was one of the other things that I've changed? Good luck with your girl, and I know how you feel - I'm always stressing about things too, and notice whenever things just don't seem right.
