Default Hip/Elbow Certification

Kono is 10 months and I was wondering when I should get her hips and elbows done, because my trainer says he normally wouldn't start schutzhund work until he knows what the hips look like. But I thought the earliest that you can do it was 1 year. So how old would be the best and where would I get them done... SV and OFC I have no clue... If I wanted to show Kono what would be the best and how would I contact someone to do it.

And if this doesnt belong here feel free to move it...

Thanks!

Depends on what you want. You can look at hips at any age. I look at 6-7 months (before starting any serious training). If you want them to get a rating, then you'll have to wait. 24 months for OFA, 12 months for SV, ??? for PennHIP. Where to get them done....I would ask people in your area or call around. I've either used a specialist (who I can't use anymore) or I go to my normal vet hospital and make an appointment with the person who I feel does the best positioning.

Thanks! Yeah I found out they can do 16 weeks for PennHIP. I would want a rate on them.

I do prelims at 6-8 months and then the official OFA's at 2. You can do hips/elbows at 1 with the SV, but it is a bit more involved.

I do both prelims and official OFA x-rays with my vet who is excellent, but not all vets are good at the positioning. You will need to find who does the best positioning in your area.

Alright one more question...
If I wanted SV to rate them would I have to go through someone like WDA or USA since I am in the US? And what is USA because I know what WDA but not USA. Because then wouldnt I have to be a member with one of those?
