Does my pup look "ok", size wise?
3 Attachment(s)
Bella, 8 months old next week.
Went to vet today for ear infection and weighed in at 46 lbs only. Will she get bigger? How long will she continue to grow? My vet didn't seem concerned at all, but I wanted people opinions from here too. I feed her Fromm Gold 3 cups per day. Attachment 23244 Attachment 23245 Attachment 23246 Thanks!! My bella is that skinny to but 11 weeks.. Im thinking mine is under weight because I can see her bones in her hips. How much do you feed her a day?

looks perfect to me they are not suppose to be chubby, lean is a lot better for them as long as you can't see her ribs she is fine.

I second what Julie said. You could up her food a tiny bit (maybe an extra 1/2 cup a day) but I would give her much more.

Bella looks fine to me. :)
My 11 month old female weighs 58 lbs...lean but healthy. My little girl runs a lot ...she gets 2 measured cups of food in AM, then 2 cups PM ( 4 cups total a day). Kat |
German shepherds are KNOWN to be lean, awkward, lanky puppies. Structurally, they grow up until a 1-1.5 years. They continue to fill out and put on weight until 2-3 years of age. At 8 months old, she has a LOT of growing yet to do.
Also, keep in mind that a well bred female should only be 65-75 lbs. German shepherds were not meant to be these 100lb giants. So she is perfectly in line to be a normal sized female. |
don't know about size wise but looks more than OK to me. what a cutie.

She looks perfect. You always want to see a "waist" when looking from above. You will know when she is too skinny by an extreme waist where the ribs are totally visible from above/side. You should only see them during a run.
