I bet my guy stretches 20 times a day at least - he is up and down a lot and usually stretches every time he gets up - he's older too 3 1/2 ish and has no problems what so ever with his hips.

Our youngest Samoyed always stretches when he gets up, it's just part of what he does. He also sleeps with his back legs out like a frog a lot. He has great hips

Our oldest Samoyed has HD and it was first dx'd before his 3rd birthday He does not sleep with frog legs and he only stretches occasionally. He does sleep on his back with his legs up a lot. I'm guessing that relieves some of the pressure on his back/hips because that is his preferred sleeping position.

My dog does this too. I did some research and I didn't come across anything that indicates HD, but I did find that it can be due to abdominal pain. My dog was really sick a couple months ago and had every test I can think of and xrays. Nothing came up, so I have concluded that she is just a stretcher. I will continue to watch her to make sure that I don't see signs of discomfort, but she has been doing this forever.
