Recent excessive itching in few areas.

Poor Dolly! She has been having the major itches as of recent and is waking up in the middle of the night for a midnight itch, which is a new thing for her.

She has an area on her chest that she obsessively itches, under her arms, above her tail, and on the top of her head.

I took her to the vet for severe eye drainage and redness. I also asked the vet about her itching. He gave me some eye drops for her eye infection and told me to give her benadryl for the itching. He found no bumps, patches, or nasty bugs and things it is environmental due to the season and weather.

What is the best way to administer benadryl in pill form (25mg per)? I was told 1mg per pound (70lb). If I give her the liquid (she loves) how much does that translate to (measured in ML).

She also wakes up in the middle of the night panting heavily during her itch fests.

Thanks

Do not give liquid - contains artifical sweeteners (sorbitol).

You really should look to a holistic vet for help on this. There are too many variables that would have to change to help your dog. Benedryl gives temp relief (in like 25% of dogs) and is not a solution.

Diet (raw), detox (herbs), filtered water, pesticide free heartworm prevention, no more vaccines after immunization found through titers. Only then will the immune system be able to address foreign invaders causing allergic symptoms

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. - Unknown

My dog was also itchy and my vet told me to bathe her with Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo (with salicylic acid). That really seemed to help.
