Help - Dog Ate Entire Can of Pumpkin
My 50 pound dog just ate an entire can of pumpkin. Should I be worried? My daughter was making pumpkin pie. The pie was out on the counter, and when we were not looking, she ate all the pumpkin and part of the crust. The pie had not yet been baked. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Chances are she will be just fine; just keep an eye on her. That much fiber will either give her the squirts or constipate her. Be ready.

what was in the recipe !!!!
a part of the spice mix, NUTMEG , is toxic --- can cause tremors , seizures - and if enough was ingested could be toxic. do you have a vet you can speak with ? high levels of sugar or corn syrup could give diarrhea |
No nutmeg. It has cloves, cinnamon, evaporated milk, sugar, salt, ginger and eggs.

whew -- don't know about cloves , but cinnamon is actually an anti-inflammatory, so is ginger, no problem with eggs ,
hope the dog enjoyed his treat ! |
I am sure she enjoyed it. It turns out that some of the mix is left over in the fridge, so she probably had about 2/3 of a can of pumpkin. Thanks for all of the replies.

I would fast 24hrs, give plenty of fresh water and then reintroduce normal diet or a boiled rice/chicken diet depending on if she has any diarrhea/constipation issues. Call the vet in case.

The poop from the pie will show up tomorrow evening. Good luck.

What is it with these naughty dogs!? One with the pumpkin pie filling, one with bag balm...sheesh...!
