Teddy is now ten months old and is still in her first heat, which means no dog park and much less exercise. To make matters worse, I am also undergoing some issues, and will be having surgery soon.
Teddy has a patch of something on on the top of the inside of her ear. Kind of black coffee grinds looking, with a patch of gray next to it. The gray looks sort of like she's covered in gray ash. I'll be taking her to the vet on Monday, but I'm horribly worried about her. I feel so sorry for her. First, she's had much less exercise, and now this. I suspect she won't get much exercise while I'm recuperating, either. Can whatever this is be made worse by stress?

Swab out the ear with raw organic coconut oil (Nutiva is a good mid-price range) and add to the diet if you are not already
Yes, could be stress related, stress affects the adrenals, the adrenals are responsible for the balance of estrogen and testosterone and natural cortisol. When the balance is upset, immune system malfunctions and microbes natural to the body proliferate such as yeasts. Coconut oil is used to treat yeast and bacteria http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites...-pet-dogs.aspx Which links to adrenals here http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites...et-stress.aspx Explains the adrenals and how chronic stress and overuse of steroids can lead to Cushings
